I just received an email saying they will chose people next week, but that I should prepare myself because I was one of the first to apply for my book (Rachel's Holiday)!

I was just having a sift through my spam folder and found the same email as well. It does say that they will be sending an email "early next week" regarding where to pick the books up from. As it was sent last week, that would make it this week, but I haven't had anything yet - has anyone else?

By the way, it is now closed to new applicants.

I know applications will be processed tomorrow (or some of them at least) so it'll likely be early next week. Maybe the date in the e-mail was still corresponding to the old application deadline?

Tonight's email reads:

"Due to the overwhelming response we have had from people applying to become a book giver for World Book Night 2011, we are still assessing the 25,000+ applications. Apologies for the ongoing suspense but we need until Monday the 31st January before can confirm whether or not you have been successful.

At that time each selected giver will receive confirmation that they been chosen and asking them to pick which library or bookshop they would like their books delivered to. Those who have not been chosen will also receive an email with details of other ways they can get involved."

Yay! I've been selected to be a World Book Night giver. I will receive 48 copies of the Life of Pi, which was my first choice. I'm really chuffed. The email asks you to click on a link to select your collection point by the end of Weds 2nd Feb, so don't delay.

I have also been selected to give out copies of Toast which I'm really pleased about as this was my 1st choice. Hope everyone else gets the ones they wanted.
