I would always use an independant shop for buying/building a pc. Check what is available on the big guys online and ask them to match it.0

I had a Dell (can't remember how old but it's 300mhz!) which still works great and feels really solid. After that I used an independent local company and while I asked them to match a well specced, well made machine, they put in the cheapest of everything and the stupid thing was never any good. I din't know any better then, but I wouldn't go near them again.
If you are using a local shop make sure you have some good recommendations from people you know, and don't be fobbed off with cheap components.

Look on the Dell Site and try *building* a pc according to your budget and needs.
Then phone Dell. You will get it quicker, but at the web price.

I ordered a laptop this afternoon. The sales guy I spoke to was most helpful. If he didn't know the answer to my many questions he went off and phoned me back - straightaway!0 -
