No, your purchase was made through Comet - your contract is with them and its therefore up to them to sort the issue out.I bought a digial camera just before Christmas and it has a fault. The manager tried fobbing me off saying that I had to deal with the manufacturer.
If the product is found to be faulty within that short space of time then clearly you are entitled to have a replacement or your money back, unless the seller can adequately show that the fault has arisen through your misuse of the product. He finally agreed to replace the item as long as I took a 20% "fine" for "bringing back a faulty product that had been opened".
Quite how he could have expected you to discover the product was faulty *without* opening the packaging is beyond me. Maybe the "fines" all go into a pot for staff new year drinks..;)0 -

Don't worry - I won't let this lie.
Just wanted to spread the word - do not buy from Comet!
Hi alarmfan,
Although we operate a 10% restocking policy for goods that are returned opened but unused, this does not apply to items that are returned as faulty. In majority of cases when a fault is confirmed within a reasonable time scale an exchange will be completed at no additional cost, and I am concerned that a 20% restocking fee was applied on this occasion.
Therefore if you would like to e-mail me your purchase details at the link below, and quoting reference ‘127442’ I am happy to investigate further, and if necessary refund any fees that were incorrectly applied.
