Well, I live in a rough area of London. My street is very dark and my front door is down the side of the house. When the drunk bidder turned up he was at least a foot taller than me and considerably heavier. Luckily, he paid and then lurched off, but I didn't want to risk it again! (Especially as my neighbours are not renowned for helping others out!).
I don't like meeting at a local place either as I find the buyers get a bit fussy about where. In the past they have chosen the local shopping centre (which is fine and sensible) but it would take at least an hour and a half out of my day to do that. I often work 6 days a week and would much rather not spend the 7th day hanging around a shopping centre waiting for a bidder. It is much quicker for me to pop down to the post office.0
