Beware Of Princess Dvd Player At Toys R Us

DONT KNOW IF THIS IS THE CORRECT PLACE TO PUT IT BUT PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING EXPENSIVE ITEMS FROM TOYS R US. I BOUGHT A PRINCESS DISNEY DVD PLAYER FROM THIS STORE 3 MONTHS AGO AND TONIGHT IT HAS BEEN GIVING US TO SAY THE LEAST A FEW PROBLEMS.
AFTER IT STOPED PLAYING 3 TIMES (AFTER 10-15MIN) AND MY DAUGHTER COMING DOWN STAIRS UPSET FOR THE THIRD TIME I CALLED THE STORE I BOUGHT IT FROM, SPOKE TO A RELLAY NICE LADY WHO AKED ME TO BRING IT DOWN ALSO TELLING ME THERE WAS 5 INSTOCK AND AGREEING THE ITEM WOULD BE EXCHANGED FOR A WORKING MODEL. I DROVE DOWN TO THE STORE WITH PLAYER AND REMOTE THANKING MYSELF I HAD BOUGHTIT FROM A REPUTABLE STORE. THE MANAGER APPROCHED ME AND ASKED IF I COULD GET THE SCART LEAD, 2ND REMOTE AND INSTUCTIONS SO HE COULD SET THE PLAYER UP (A CHILDS DVD PLAYER MAY I REMIND YOU ALL, PLUG & GO!) REMINDING HIM HE HAS AT LEAST 5 IN STOCK HE NEEDED THE ONES I HAD BACK AT MY HOUSE. DROVE HOME COLLECTED THE BITS DROVE BACK TO THE STORE STAFF WATCHED THE PLAYER PLAT MONSTERS INC FOR 10MIN THEN TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT! ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER, HE CAME BACK OUT AND SAID HE WOULDNT REFUND OR EXCHANGE AS THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT WHILE THEY TESTED IT AND IF HE WAS TO TAKE IT BACK THEY WOULD ONLY PUT IT BACK ON TO THE SHELF TO BE RE-SOLD TO SOME OTHER POOR PERSON. AFTER HAVING A HEATED DISSCUSSION WHICH HALF OF IT I DONT THINK HE UNDERSTOOD (IM BROAD GEORDIE!) I CAME AWAY WITH ONE FAULTY DVD PLAYER. NOW BEING HOME FOR AN HOUR THE PLAYER HAS STOPPED TWICE SO FAR AND IM GETTING VERY WOUND UP.
PEOPLE BUYING FOR XMAS JUST BEWARE THAT IT COULD BE FAULTY ITEMS PREVIOUSLEY RETURNED THAT YOU ARE BUYING:mad: :mad:

Did you take the disc with you for them to watch or was it their own DVD they tested it with?
Sounds like your store has an a$$ for a manager - at my Toys R Us they are very good with exchanges and "the customer is always right".
Might be worth calling another store to see if they would be prepared to replace it.

Are you sure it's the player and not the DVD you were playing?

could also be a fault which only occurs once the player gets to a certain temperature...got a LG LCD TV which has the backlight fail after running for approx 30 mins, works great prior to warming up.
in relation to you comment about not sure if the right board, I'd say nope, not sure where it should be but it's certainly not a grabbitWelcome, rogerramjet.

Sorry bout your probs. Surely if its in guarantee they have to exchange it? Or at least tell you wot you can do about contacting the maker to exchange or fix?
I've had probs with toys r us too, I bought a car seat for dd and a couple of months later I read in the paper that which had said they weren't rated well, so took my still packaged car seat and recipt in hand, all I wanted was an exchange but no they wont exchange car seats. Very helpful I thought! :mad:0 -
My DD has one of these DVD players from Disney and it packed up completely last week after a year, wasn't too great before that either.............I would avoid altogether. Not worth £70 IMOQuid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur0

no i never took the same dvd but i did try a few different ones and they all worked fine in other players.

I have e-mailed toys-r-us as im really disgusted with what has gone on, and the way they made me feel as though i had just suddenly thought at 8pm on a thurs night with bitter cold outside 'hey i think ill exchange that dvd player'!

is it the portable dvd player. if so my sister and her friend both got replacement players from medion last week. her friends one was 2 days out of warranty but my sister had a week left on hers. they phoned medion directly and they sent out a replacement by courier and collected the old one at the same time. the new one is only holding the charge for 15 mins so she phoned medion back and they sent courier out to collect and have said to supply reciept and they will send a refund by cheque.these were £130 last xmas. toysrus are crap and so we didn't even bother going back to them. man at medion wasn't surprised so perhaps give them a ring.(if it is the portable one). if not it's still made by medion so i would still give them a ring0
