Not sure about worldwide, but in GB Tesco's "Producer to DC to store" logistics are handled by Eddie Stobart Ltd. Which is why I didn't mention them above. I'd probably trust a Stobart driver to do anything. (I've previously worked in the transport/logistics industry in various roles).
The general deliveries/stock levels in the stores seemed very good. Given the Christmas mad rush and the weather problems that side of things was very impressive.

Tesc Direct are handled by TNT (I'm not permitted by MSE to post links but it's on shippingline.biz website)

The local stores delivery service details I wasn't able to find out easily.

Incidentally Ocado have a seriously impressive state-of-the-art automated central warehouse in Hatfield (I watched a documentary on it last year). They have a relay system with the large lorries delivering from there to regional warehouses where the vans pick it up and do the local deliveries.

To be fair it was an awful domino effect with the bad weather.

It was, and had they told me they'd cancelled the order I wouldn't have been surprised. Being just off the M1, Milton Keynes Kingston was always likely to remain one of the most accessible for deliveries in the country - relaying it from there to anywhere outside the built up areas was causing the problems. Our local tescos is only 1.5miles away down a straight route to Wolverton so it wouldn't have been too difficult to get there. If only they'd told us they couldn't deliver I wouldn't have complained and I wouldn't be on here now.

Poor information meant we were told the order had been picked but not delivered and sending us across town twice on a futile mission in rather dodgy driving conditions was really annoying.

Omg that letter is incredibly wordy, you need to be concise!
Well my MO due to my work background involves being precise rather than concise. In any event it's written in grammatically correct and properly spelt english so your comment on that is a disagreement on style.

It got me what I asked for so job done, no?

Oddly, my friend got a delivery on the 20th in Shenley. Nevermind, you have a result now.

Ah...that explains why Tesco Direct are so bad!

Local stores' deliveries are in-house (for want of a better term), not sure who does their route planning but it's not a job I'd want to do!
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
