credit cards for people with bad credit

in Credit cards
I currently have an IVA, but only have about 12 months left to run on it. I would like to buy a new mountain bike as part of my get fit health kick thing, but I think it could progress further into a hobbie or interest.
I've seen one in Halfords for £500, but they don't offer a pay monthly scheme. The only other way I can think of purchasing it is by taking out a credit card with a £500 limit. Based on my circumstances, does anyone know of any I would be approved for?
I intend on paying it off and closing account within 3 months.
Cheers!

Sorry, but I would imagine that a card with a 500 limit would be very hard to come upon given your circumstances.
You could try Vanquis, Crapital One or Aqua
You can pre-check yourself to see if you could get a Barclaycard Initial via the link below, it doesn't damage your credit rating with a full search.

If you don't have £500, I'd seriously consider other alternatives - running, getting a bike for nothing from Freecycle, or at worst, saving up for three months and paying cash.0

If you are in an IVA, you are not allowed to take out any credit without the permission of your IP, although the likelyhood of you being accepted, even for the poor credit cards, is virtually nilDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

If so, why not use the Ride2Work scheme?
It's very good.0 -
Yea, I kind of guessed it would be virtually nil to be honest. I haven't taken any form of credit in the last four years which is a good thing a guess because that is how I got to where I am now.
I think saving is going to be my best option, have to be patient I guess.
The Ride2Work scheme was one of the first things I enquired about at work, but they don't do anything like that at the moment, although I have been trying to push them to start something. I just don't think it would be popular and therefore not beneficial to the company.
Cheers for the advice though0 -
Do have a look a Freecycle or Freegle. I've picked up - and given away - some great stuff on there, all for free. ie got a great cabin bed for my daughter, a freeview box, baby clothes, and given away TVs, playstation games, kids stuff. I've seen a lot of bikes on there. They're all local groups, so all you have to do is go round and pick it up.
Anyway, good luck.0
