Trying to close credit card account

in Credit cards
Sorry if this topic has been covered already, I couldn't find anything directly relating to it.
I have an Argos mastercard with zero balance. I rang to close it in November and was sent a letter to confirm this had been done. However I checked my credit report which I get monthly from Credit Expert in December and it still showed as open. I rang Argos again in December and asked whether it was closed and they confirmed it was and sent another letter out saying it was closed. I have visited Credit Expert today and it still says it is open (file has been updated to 2nd Jan 2011). Another one I had with Barclaycard which I closed after the Argos one is now showing on my credit report as settled (i.e. closed) and therefore I am confused about the status of the Argos one. Can anyone help at all?

In my experience, it takes about 2 to 3 months for the credit reference agencies (Experian/Equifax etc) to update their online files from when they're notified of a card closure.0
