I was browsing my account area tonight in order to see how to cancel free BT 1571, as we so often forget to pick up the phone to check for an interrupted dial tone indicating a message, and it's often hours before knowing about it. I was thinking of reviving the old ansafone.

My eye was caught by a new service:

Follow this link and you are presented with a list of messages

To listen to your message, click on the name or number highlighted in blue.
To delete message(s), check the box on the left of the message, then click delete.
To save message(s), check the box on the left of the message , then click save

It works well, and means that those of us who don't find the callminder (chargeable) service particularly good value can now retrieve the voicemail remotely, and we'll also have a recording of any messages.

One little thing, I wasn't able to use the direct "open" option, as my default .wav file player lacked the necessary codec, so if you find the same, download the file and then try another player such as Media Player.

BT gets a lot of criticism, much of it deserved, but this does seem like a genuine innovation; overseas listeners might particularly appreciate it.
