Me too - went through the carrot phase for a while! Ended up with quite a few carrot soups and salads during that time :rotfl:At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0 -
No, I menu plan and control portions. I have been using the same menu plan for years so I only use foods I know will be eaten by the hungry mob. Reduced items aren't a bargain for me if they don't fit in my menu plan.0

I have to hold my hand up to having some spices in the cupboard which are out of date (but still may be used though) and do regularly waste broccoli as it turns so bloomin quick! (Must get some more green bags)Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker

Guilty as charged

My problem is that i cant resist a yellow label - so have fallen prey to the 10p reduced stir fry veg and noodle packs -trouble is that its too much to eat in even a few goes - and then its a rush to finish it before its un eatable - and this includes going over the use by dates - and resorting to the smell test.
Some of my mushrooms end up dehydrating themselves while waiting to be used:o. Must try harder - trouble is - because its reduced, i think 10p here and there is less of a problem, but its still food waste, and i get caught out some weeks.
As i type i have a sad looking broccoli head in the fridge, and two carrots (of the many) looking a little withered, but i cant use them as i have to finish the noodles and stirfry first.
Must resist yellow labels and the 10p fairy

Out of date tinned stuff - I dont think so !0

no i don't i;d say i maybe throw out £10 a year, none of my tinned stuff is out of date as i'm always rooting in the bk of the cupboard to see whats in there, i;d say a few of my spices are out of date but i'll still use them , i tend to buy reduced carrots and freeze them, and reduced fruit cause it never lasts more than a few days in this house, i do tend to throw away wee bits and bobs of salads tho as i'm the only one who likes them and theres only so much salad you can eatDEC GC £463.67/£450

nope i dont think i have ever wasted food or not used up what i have bought, i cant stand the idea of wasting money especially when every penny has to count
but even if i were a millionare i would probably still buy seasonal veg from my local market and buy spices in bulk from the asian supermarket0 -

My problem is that i cant resist a yellow label
I'm exactly the same, Trinny! Currently feeling guilty because I ran out of freezer space and ended up wasting some veg. If I catch veg before it goes bad or bread before it goes green (!) I give them to the rabbits & guinea pig who think they are fantastic. The bread has to be dried and hard, though. They have even eaten cake crumbs, crackers and bits of biscuit as a treat.
'Proper' guinea pig food which the animals haven't eaten (the dusty bits, oats and grass pellets usually) get thrown out for the birds - I feel bad binning it.
Despite this I'm one of the guilty millions and I do have to bin food regularly depiste being fairly ingenious at using up leftovers.Miggy

I think I probably do waste a pound or two every week, usually carrots, I am always buying carrots but never eat as many as I buy
This is so me during the winter... I usually grow my own but never enough to store so have to buy in winter. But NEVER remember or think to look if I need any.. fortunately they dont tend to waste. We just have to eat them with everything:eek:Right now its salad! Why the hell did I buy salad in the winter when I could have got a few more spuds and made wedges or rosti and had tuna and sweetcorn with them
This is me too... again I grow it all summer & buy in winter with great intentions then it I forget and it goes yukky
Its so much easier when I can go into the greenhouse and harvest as much as I need and leave the rest growing happy.
Thank you OP for this thread... really made me aware of what Im doing without realizing xGoal - We want to be mortgages free :j

Guilty
Possibly more... Actually probably more
:o:o
However, I am doing my best to STOP wasting food. Its frightening how much it adds up to
Me too
Its normally bread and fruit and veg that i end up throwing away. Menu planning does help cut this down though - must try harder!
