Reinstating interior wall

Hi all,
Thinking of putting back the wall between my living room and dining room. It was removed, so I am told in the seventies. A RSJ has been used to support the ceiling. Not being a brickie I thought of filling the gap with stud walling but how would I attach the header plate to the top where the RSJ is? The bottom is filled with concrete between the floor boards that I will have to remove and build up with wood! Is this the correct procedure? Thank you in advance.

There are 2 ways you can go about this.
1) Breezeblock and build to the head then plasterboard and skin.
2)Make a studded frame to fit between the rsj and floor and just lift into place.
You can attach the bottom of studding to concrete floor ie fixing bolts or just screws and plugs. as for fixing into the head you can pilot drill a hole with a decent metal bit and fix into. I dont think you would have to fix the head in depending on the size. Dont forget the frame will be screwed into the sides aswell this should be enough to support it as its not taking any weight. Then just plasterboard and skim.
Need any more advise let me know.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature and avatar. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
