Should I get a new battery fitted?

My car is 9 years old, and in the last spell of really cold weather, on very cold mornings my car just wouldn't start. On each occasion this happened, as the daylight warmed up the temperature and the car defrosted, the car would start. I have no problems getting the car started in any other weather conditions (in the rain for example). I've had the alternator and the battery checked, alternator is fine and the battery apparently had just under 50% charge but there is a fair bit of corrosion around the terminals.
I have had the car for 18 months, I don't know when or if the battery was replaced before on the car.
This might be a silly question, forgive me, but does the corrosion and the charge level on the battery mean I should just replace it?

Get the connections taken off, cleaned up and refitted then smear with Vaseline or similar. Even the best batteries are weaker in very cold temps. The vehicles in my fleet were the same and one has had a new batt only about 6 months previously. Its when they dont start that you need to worry. If its the kind of batt that has open cells, check the electrolyte level.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
