Burning disc but getting phantom bongos

Dear All,
Recently whenever I burn a cd I seem to have a sound which sounds like bongos or a tap dancing shire horse in the background, I initially thought that maybe it was the fact that I was using Nero 7, which several people have said is uber glitchy, however Ive just tried using my old Nero 5.5 and still no joy.
So folks any idea??
