Lost baggage advice!

Hi there guys,
Just after a bit of advice. My girlfriend has just gone to study in Canada for 3 months. She purchased her flight from Air Canada with her Halifax credit card. Unfortunately whilst the luggage turned up in Toronto (where she was connecting) it didn't make it to her final destination of Kingston.
She has called up the airline who are trying to trace the luggage. They have given her $100 CAD in the interim after complaining over the phone today.
She's currently exploring whether she has travel insurance through her work. I'm also wondering if her credit card will provide her with any protection? What is she entitled to in this period whilst they try and trace the luggage from Air Canada?
Naturally she's absolutely gutted about it
Any advice very greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Francis

How long has the baggage been missing?
If it has missed the connection in Toronto then they will forward it on the next available flight and the airline will courier it out to you (bags that go astray long term are those where the destination tags put on by the airline somehow come off and therefore need to be matched by description - all missing bags are endered into a Worldwide Baggage tracing system and likewise all bags that are found with no tags which can then be matched up)0 -
It's been two days now and they haven't found it yet...
