yeah i am not saying this is cause, just seems strange that when battery level is pretty decent there is no noise, when battery level drops the noise returns, i am pretty sure advice i have recieved is correct, something must be draining the battery when the car is parked, as the alternator is definetly charging battery when it is running, just got to find out what is draining the power, as it dont seem to be anything obviousTake every day as it comes!!0 -

that is just my luck, there could be 10 cars in a row, all same make, same model, same year, done same miles, 9 of them could be perfect, and 1 dodgy, and i would pick the dodgy 1:D, best car i ever brought was off ebay, a vauxhall vectra, i am down south and this car was in lake district, so never looked at it before purchasing, never had a problem with it, everyt car i have looked at and purchased i have had nothing but problems with:eek:Take every day as it comes!!0 -
Got a picture/link to what you are using to measure battery charge?
I didn't notice you saying you have ever put a new battery in it, have you?
I would measure voltage
when parking up
After a couple of hours of being parked
and then start car whilst measuring volts ideally need two people.
Then whilst running switch on rear demister, headlights and full beams observe change in voltage.
If you want a proper battery tester you need one of these

We have an Espace and that suffers with a flat battery about 3 or 4 times a year.
It will work perfectly for a while and then you stop for about 30 Min's and the starter solenoid will just click when you try to start it.
Call out recovery and it will start on jump leads immediately.
I have bought a Jump start kit of my own now back in the summer and have only had to use it once.
Reading websites, it is a problem that you can spend many hundreds of pounds on and not resolve.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

Reading websites, it is a problem that you can spend many hundreds of pounds on and not resolve.
Generally it's not actually a difficult thing to track down, but it does require some time, and the attentions of someone who properly understands how vehicle electrics work, especially earthing, which isn't always as simple as it first seems.
As it happens, today I tracked down a similar problem which has affected my daily driver Defender for the past 6 years. It's not that I couldn't have found it before, only that I've never bothered to devote the time to a proper investigation because it does always start, just sometimes it's very reluctant to crank properly.
A slightly odd earthing arrangement meant that the alternator current was very low, and presumably right on the limit of normal use. Spend a week doing short journeys in the dark and the battery is running down by Friday. My usual weekend run up the motorway in daylight is enough to make up the deficit, but skip a couple of weekends and the propblems start appearing again. If it were slightly worse I would have fixed it years ago, if it were slightly better I might have never noticed a problem.0 -
hi , just read the thread , and i cant see what engine / model of scenic you have.
i am lucky:rotfl:enough to have to work on renaults every day , and there are a few issues with battery drain , and it sounds like you may have one of these issues.
if post what engine / model etc i can give you a few pointers.0 -
HI everyone
My 1.4 scenic has started having a flat battery in the morning. One of the rear doors has also failed recently to lock on the central locking system
Would anyone know if these two problems could be related?
I would appreciate any ideas
many thanks0
