Hello, Does anyone own or know anything about these cars.

Thinking about buying one.
Appreciate any help or reviews, good or bad.

Thank You.

Feels cheaply made inside and out, sat nav in the one I had was scared of motorways and I've heard of a lot of problems with the 1.2 engine suffering from a stretched timing chain costing big money.

Not the worst drive ever - even if I did look ridiculous (as a 6ft2 male driving a Micra :))

Thanks for reply Kilty. What year was your micra and was it a tekna.
Can't find much about them when I google.

I think it was actually an N-Tec - I don't know if that's high or low spec but it had sat nav (albeit a useless one).

2010 59 it was. Not mine - a courtesy car.
  • I was just reading some of the reviews about the timing chain faults.
Can't see any faults on cars over 2006. Most faults were on 2003 cars.
Any chance the problem has been resolved.

Quite possibly. Someone once told me never buy a brand new car until the production run is at least 5 years old so problems have been ironed out, which I think is quite sensible, if not a bit over cautious. Tekna just means what gadgets its got - electric windows/leather seats, that kind of thing. They're all the same car underneath.

Unfortunately I would think they're not as reliable as the older generation as they're now built on the same platform as the Clio (Renault has now got its interfering French hands into the once reliable Nissan), but you seem to see loads around so they can't be that bad.
