Failure to download Windows Updates

Hi: any advice on the following?
Since 5 October I have discovered my automatic updates are failing to download. I have tried to manually download but I end up with a page stating:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

Unquote.

I have been on the self help solutions Microsoft pages but cant find any error code matching the above and have exhausted all other ideas and its driving me nuts!!

Where did you get the OS was it installed on a PC as in Dell or did you buy the software.

Try removing the 0x at the start and searching for the code.

It's usually just a case of removing your update history or similar, that or a firewall problem.

Scottie : I have just run thru the instructions using the link on the Windows Newsgroup topic you suggested and it has cured the problem! many thanks for your help and to all the other guys who offered help too. regards.
