Failure to download Windows Updates

Hi: any advice on the following?
Since 5 October I have discovered my automatic updates are failing to download. I have tried to manually download but I end up with a page stating:

I have been on the self help solutions Microsoft pages but cant find any error code matching the above and have exhausted all other ideas and its driving me nuts!!

Where did you get the OS was it installed on a PC as in Dell or did you buy the software.0

It's usually just a case of removing your update history or similar, that or a firewall problem.0 -
