Sun in March - Recommendations?

Hi there,

I'd like to take a week to chill out - most likely in March. I'll be on a budget so the sun may be a challenge as not very hot in Europe in March. I guess an idea of budget is needed....I was definitely hoping for under £1,000 and closer to £500 would be even better!

I'm not keen on Tunisia or Egypt.

In the ideal world it would be somewhere nice and hot...perhaps by a beach but doesn't have to be.

It'll just be me by myself.

Full board or all inclusive might be nice but half board would probably work too.

In the ideal world I'd fly from Bristol but can do Heathrow / Gatwick etc.

I'd be really grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers,
Andy

I would say try any of the Canary Islands in March, they're currently at around 24 degrees, so nice and warm already! I've been to Fueteventura (spelling??) and it was windy but very warm, a fairly family orientated place, also visited Grand Canaria and Tenerife, if youre going alone and want company, then Tenerife is the place! All will be warm in March.

I would also suggest Cyprus, never been but work with people that have villas there and they go at all different times of the year, it never seems to cool down!

    Have a great time.

Thanks for that. When I look on the web I see March temperatures of about 19 C which doesn't seem that warm?

You say you're not keen on the idea of Egypt but have you considered Luxor?

Lovely place for a week's break, temperatures generally hotter than on the Red Sea coast and lots of historical sites/museums/boat trips on the Nile/hot air ballooning over the Valley of the Kings if you fancy it or just a nice loll about in the sun doing nothing if you'd rather do that.

We stayed at the Sofitel Karnak HB, lovely gardens on the bank of the Nile, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Luxor itself to be quiet and peaceful but close enough (5 mins on courtesy bus or 30 mins on courtesy boat) to be right in the midst of things.

Check out Mercury Direct; they don't offer Luxor but they have plenty of destinations that should be warm and offer no single supplements at various times in different places.

Cuba is good value at the moment. http://www.theholidayplace.co.uk/cuba?a=19852775_940536459

We went in November -weather was great and people really friendly.

For most sunny destinations, you'll need to spend quite a time on a plane though, which is a pity if you only have a week free.

Mojacar - cool - I'll have a look at that - what kind of place is it? I'll google and take a look. With work it now looks like I may not get away till April which will help with the weather....
