Capital One

Hi

I received a letter the other day from Cap One saying they will be raising my apr from Feb, and if Im not happy then close the account etc.. How will this show up on my report when I close, and will I still have access to the online account whilst its closed and still paying off?

Oh, and does anyone have the number to call, as I threw the letter away by accident?! :T

Thanks
Lo

Don't worry, I rang them, and they claim they didnt send me a letter... Maybe I was dreaming..

Actually it was Barclaycard that have increased the apr, andin the same week I received a letter a few days later to increase the limit!!

You cannot close the account unless at £0, you can stop using the card and once paid off close it.
  • that's what I had to do as well

But if they send you a letter stating they will be increasing the apr on the account, you have the option to either keep your account but with the new apr, or keep your orignal apr and they close the account. You have a 'reasonable' amount of time to pay off the outstanding balance if you opt to close.
