Messages on ebay from supplier in beijing

Hi, I just received this message as a question about one of the items I am selling.

Dear friend : we are a large foreign trade company which can offer you all kinds of digital and electronical products, all of our items are new and with official warranty from the original companies.we can accept large quantity orders with a good price and high quality. if you are interesting, contact with me by these way website:https://www.******.com msn: ********@hotmail.com

The person is located in beijing and after looking at his website, he seems to have pictures of all the things he is advertising but he is operating as most merchants on Alibaba (minimum quantities, bank transfers etc etc). He also has an ebay ID but 0 feedback and no items to sell.

I am just listing this because he would be contacting others as he did with me so beware - I would tread very carefully. What do you think?

  • Hi there,
I got a similar email as a question about a pair of adidas trainers I had up, saying they could supply me very cheaply with lots of sportswear. I am not even a shop, trader or power seller I only sell a few bits of my own stuff.

I forwarded it to ebay saying someone was trying to trade outside it which is not allowed, I didn't reply and I then deleted it.

I would advise you to do the same. Sounds very very dodgy. Hope this helps you.

I've had 2 in the last week, and then got a warning from Ebay about it. I think there is alot going around at the moment. I just delete them and do not reply to anything
  • I got one as a question from a buyer when I was selling a PDA a couple of weeks back. It was from someone in China about a mobile phone. Reported it to ebay.

There's some genuine sellers on albaba but I'd only use the ones that have paid to be certified. Even then you are usually dealing with huge quantites of goods as minimum's are usually a container of whatever you're buying! I'd ask for a sample first from any wholesaler/manufacturer as a first step. Offer to pay for it. Most legimate businesses will only be too happy to prove quality of goods first!

alibaba is full of scammers.. it cost 500 dollars for any seller to be certified regardless of who they are. and they are not verified. If you want to be scammed use alibaba.. instead of wasting your cash just send it to me :)

I import directly from china myself. if you need any info PM me.. :)
