Having sold on ebay previously, I need to sell some items and unfortunately ebay seem to be the best option. As there is a free listing this weekend I may try again.
I do not have an up-to-date paypal account (new address, different email etc.). Am I best just creating a new one? And are there any do's and don'ts eg. is it safe to register my one and only credit card etc.

You are not allowed ot have two paypal accounts of the same sort, so just update the existing one. You'll need to do it pretty quickly and get it verified to sell sfaely and without any mucking around. A 21 day hold is not the end of the world, and realistically for many items if you don't sell on ebay you won't achieve a good price anywhere else.
