"Please note that we will only exchange goods if they are faulty or exchange for a credit note. You're [sic] statutory rights are not effected [sic]"
think the sign is ok...perhaps there's a comma and a word or two missing?
I think what they mean is....if you change your mind you will get a credit note (which they are not legally obliged to do) as opposed to cash back
If its faulty, you will get it changed, if no replacement is available you will get a refund as per your statutory rights
people usually have signs like this in sales to stop people buying things getting home then changing their minds....exchanges or refunds for any reason other than statutory requirments are at the discretion (or good will of the management) and if good will is not forthcoming....tell all your friends, neighbours and family....I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -

Actually, your statutory rights entitle you to a refund of faulty goods even if you choose it in preference to an offered replacement.Torby wrote:If its faulty, you will get it changed, if no replacement is available you will get a refund as per your statutory rights0 -
To clear the matter up, the Consumer Transactions (Restrictions on Statements) Order 1976 makes it a CRIMINAL OFFENCE to display a notice that purports to restrict statutory rights.
Simply adding the words "Your statutory rights remain unaffected" counts for nothing if the statement does actually purport to restrict those rights.
also, I cannot name and shame the store, as much as I want to, or publish the picture - sorry!Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0
