If a policeman or traffic warden abused you then hid their badge number so you couldn't complain about them, that would be okay would it, because that is exactly what you are implying above.

I call it being sensible and standing up for your rights, and as far as I'm aware, anyone in the UK has the legal right to complain about a service or treatment they have received if they feel it was not up to a satisfactory standard.

Once again George you and me have different ideas what growing a pair of balls means. From what you are saying above if a policeman or traffic warden abused you, then you would want to complain to their boss about it as round your way thats what "growing a pair" would mean. Personally I believe that is cowardice, and if I was walking down the street and abused by a policeman or traffic warden I would tell them exactly what I thought of them and wouldn't hide behind a letter to their boss! I'm wondering where the h*ll you way is? Is it some leafy suburb of oxfordshire?

I have no problem with complaining when you don't receive adequate service or treatment, but lets examine what the OP wanted, they phoned up New Look to find out where their items were, the CSA despite reservations over the DPA told him the exact situation of where his parcel is. Then the OP complained about not receive email notification and the CSA made a flippant comment which was pretty obvious and because of that the OP wants to complain to that person's boss and possibly leading to that person being disciplined or fired. Its massively OTT.

I love how everyone who complains remains calm and polite!!

That's the biggest problem with boards such as this.
We normally only ever get one side of the story.

In this instance though, I think that a.w was justified in asking for the agents name.
If they had done nothing wrong, why did they feel the need not to disclose this, especially as it was the OP who placed the order and had the legal right to ask for info about it.

You can complain all you want to someone on the phone, but if you don't even know their name, what's the point, especially as all they have to do is to hang up on you.
As I said before, the DPA has an awful lot to answer for, especially when it gets used when it doesn't even apply.

From the comments mentioned above, I don't think it's worth complaining too much in a face to face confrontation with a policeman, as it's almost guaranteed that you would lose (either creating a public disturbance, affray, or something similar) especially if there were no other wittnesses.

Now, a traffic warden is a different matter, especially if they were definately in the wrong.

From what I've read he placed it in his girlfriends name, making her the customer and it makes him having no rights to know.
