Part of living room ceiling fell down a few days ago. Insurance co. say not covered as 'wear and tear'...
if we had a leak = covered... if put foot through the floor = covered.... ceiling falls down with no apparant cause= not covered!
its an old ceiling with indiviual pieces of wood nailed to the joists and filled in with plaster.
Has anyone managed to clain successfully for ceiling repair in similar circumstances?? House about 100 yrs old, original ceiling with plaster mouldings.
Many thanks in anticipation.....:)

They are correct, owning a house comes with the responsibility of maintaining it and things failing that need replacement.
Insurance covers specific Perils (Situations) eg fire, flood etc etc.
If you have Accidental Damage Cover and someone had dropped something extremely heavy on the floor above you might have a claim.0 -
It's my daughter's room above - her school bag is quite heavy(!) but not dropped on new year's day!
accidental damage will cover the cost of repair/ replacement to items affacted by the falling ceiling - investigators' visit in pipeline.
