a snack my toddler always goes crazy for is cheese. he is a little cheese monster(just like his mummy, lol)
he isn't keen on any veg and doesn't eat any. but he loves his fruit. he quite enjoys a fruit platter with his sis and bro. i put all sorts of fruit on kiwi, pineapple, strawberries, apples, oranges , banana , melon. and although he not keen on kiwi and melon, he will every now and then try it.
marmite sandwiches are also a big love.
i like to make sandwiches and use cookie cutters and make shapes, stars , hearts, cats, duck etc.0 -
At that age may little one loved the Rice cakes you can buy in the baby sections (Goodies/Hibb/Heinz) they have different flavour fruit oil on them to make them sweeter such as orange or apple in fact he still loves them now at 5 but will only eat them at home so no-one can see the 'baby pack':) others from the shop he liked where the goodies gingerbread men, alpahbet biscuits, rusks, little boxes of raisens/apple/apricots,schoolbars & plain fruitflakes/yoghurt covered ones.
Cheap snacks at home such as a handful of cerals make a good option eg.cheerios etc. or malt loaf cut in to strips he seemed to like as it's all gooey, squidgey & sweet but its good for them.
I'd also recommend getting an Annabel Karmel book out of the library for ideas she has lots of tasy snack recipes some are very easy, others take a bit of time to prepare so you can choose accordingly.0 -
Furny- In Tesco they sell the apple rice cakes, in a 6 pack in the older kids healthy snack section. They work out cheaper (£130ish iirc) and have toy story characters on the bag. If he wanted them for school?
OP, my DD loves cocktail sausages as a snack (we get the quorn ones as we are veggie) also we get the sliced quorn deli meat, but ham or chicken as your not veggie. What about dried fruits like apricots or dates? I haven't made them for ages but DD used to love hm banana bread if you use over ripe bananas they are really sweet so you can forgo the sugar. Also used to make mixed veg muffins as a savoury snack. http://food.families.com/blog/vegetable-muffins-for-toddlers I never bothered with a recipe though, just used to wing it and they were lovely.0 -
I don;t think I've much to add but things we have used as snacks here for 17mo DD are:
Babybels
Grapes
Blueberries
Strawberries
Apples
Crackers
Rice cakes
Scones
Crumpets
Tea cakes
Malt cake
Corned beef chopped up
Bread sticks
Fig rolls
Dried fruit
But not all of these have been popular at the same time and I have to try new things when she goes off the current favourites although cheese is always popular. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
