You are missing the point.This IFA deals with expatriates living overseas, not British people in the domestic market.It's a different market entirely.

Err no I'm not, I also deal with expats, the price is the same. The only difference is in the tax treatment of the wrapper. For UK residents, you can only invest in collective investments in an offshore bond without making it a "personal portfolio bond" - which incurs punitive tax. For an expat this doesn't apply. The charging structure and product is identical.

If you are resident in the UK and have a PPB, you pay UK tax @ a deemed 15% pa notional gain. Nasty.

I don't know the IRS's definition of domicile. HMRC's is (as usual) complex, but unless you are a US national, the IRS don't come in to it. Most of the expats I deal with are either in Spain or work abroad in Middle East or Mid-Asia, so I've never had to look at the IRS.
