Caring for my dog after a road accident - any advice?

Minxy, we have 2 staffs and got a dog trainer out. He put some food in the kongs and they did not touch them for more than 30 seconds, he said they were lazy and we gave them too many treats and they should work for their food like they would have to in the wild.
Before we would have just given them a treat because we was at the cupboard, or if we had some meat left over it would go into their bowl. Now it goes into the kong. On Xmas day my husband put some turkey into the kong and they were on those kongs for 90 minutes while we had Xmas dinner. :rotfl:
So now all treats and biscuits (unless it is a training treat for training) goes in the kong or in a food ball and they have to work for the food they get given.
They love it and once the treats stop he will start using the puzzle as he'll not be getting food from you for nothing. It seems mean but it gives them something to do as you know how hyper staffies can be!!
Ours was trying to play the day after her spay. She ended up having an 8 week recovery from that as she would not sit still. Vet told me to get her to stay still...... I asked if she had a sedative then. :rotfl: It's in their nature, isn't it?0 -

It really is! Thanks for the advice - I'll start using his kong more often now - he normally gets peanut butter and dry dog food in it but I think he'll like the chicken and rice more!0 -
