The Wicked Witch From Wickes!

Hi.
I recently purchased flooring packs from Wickes that totalled £545. I paid £460 with wickes vouchers and £85 on my Visa. I returned 3 packs yesterday, which equated to a £90 refund. The Manageress of the store would only pay me my refund in vouchers. I argued the fact that they had £85 of my 'money' on Visa and that I would only accept £85 back on my card and would accept a £5 voucher. She would not budge. After much arguments I gave up as I was loosing the will to live.
Does anyone know if I'm legally entitled to my 'money' back as opposed to vouchers? I feel they have 'stolen' my original £85 visa payment. I have no need for £90 Wickes vouchers and would like the cash back in my account.
Any help appreciated!

if it was me...
-ring up a few wickes stores and casually ask about it. Perhaps this manageress is a stickler for the rules and other shift leads will allow it .
-look for a friend or someone in the store buying more than = £90 and offer the voucher in exchange for cash.
- subtly remind her she is probably losing a customer who will state her case to corporate (assuming metrics are involved, she might not want it to escalate and maybe banking on you not bringing it further
- did you return the pack because they were excess or because they were faulty? if they were faulty, the case is stronger.0 -
Of course if you're returning non-faulty it's only the shops goodwill that gets you a refund. As said I'd try a couple of other branches, don't ring them first, just go in, you might get lucky with someone who is more flexible, otherwise, IMO, take the vouchers!0

Not necessarily. It may be a term of the contract between the parties.0 -
Just like to thank Freddie_Snowbits for his hilarious reply. My mental arithmetic is fine thanks. 1 stupid reply + 1 stupid author of that reply = Freddie_Snowbits! :T That adds up to me.
I've had a sensible reply elsewhere and will pursue that avenue.
Cheers for wasting my time though.0 -
You could ask for the percentage you paid on Visa back as a compromise. Around 15% of the sale was visa so ask for 15% of the £90 to be put back on the card. Better than nothing.0

Only if you mean via an instore returns policy.
You can only return non-faulty goods for an exchange or refund if the shop has a returns policy.
But shops don't have to have a returns policy, but if they have one they must stick to it.
You did pay a majority of the bill with vouchers so i think its fair that you get the refund by the same manner. You can't beat an egg.........................NO WAIT!0 -
For future reference, split a purchase over two transactions - one by vouchers, one by cash.0
