Germany

Hi,
Looking to visit, arriving in either Coln(Bonn airport) or Frankfurt (Hahn) in a few months time.
I don't know anything of the areas but am looking for self catering accommodation within about 30 min of either airport.
Any advice most welcome.:):)

I fly to Cologne/Bonn quite a lot and have stayed at a number of cottages and apartments within approx 30-60 minutes of the airport. I'm assuming your going to hire a car.

We've booked places from these websites:
    http://www.ferienhausmiete.de/ferienhaus_suche1000.php?region=110
    and
    http://www.fewo-direkt.de/urlaub-ferienwohnung-ferienhaus/deutschland/nordrhein-westfalen/r54

Colgne is in Nordrhein-Westphalen. However, this is a very big area so there will be regions on these web sites which will be many miles away. Select Cologne Region, Bonn Region or Bergisch Land for areas close to the airport.

Let me know if you want any further info.

Twokatz, I wonder if you could tell me when you used the top link, how long it took to get a response.
I sent and enquiry to about 5 accommodations on the 8th, using the link they give but have heard nothing from any and wondered if that was normal.

    Hi Firebird

These sites work by sending e mails to the owners. They don't always reply-I'd say only about 50% do. I generally give it 48 hours and then try another property. Sometimes the replies can be pretty short and seem abrupt but I put this down to translation programmes.

I've stayed at about 5 properties within about 45 mins of CGN. If you want to PM me, I'll let you know whether I know anything about the ones you've chosen.

:)Hi Dundeedoll, yes that is what I meant, it looks great.
It's Bonn airport we will be arriving in so I was hoping for something within half an hour or so driving distance from there.
Unfortunately I am having no replies from one of the holiday let websites I have tried so I will have to keep looking.

If you meant it looks nice where I stayed, it's 20 minutes from HAHN (FRANKFURT HAHN - 1 3/4 hrs from KOELN Airport)

    (Car hire at Hahn)

We are driving from Calais to Czech republic and pass Frankfurt airport so it looks perfect for us for a few night break on the way (and vback). Its always hard finding somewhere with 2 adults and 3 kids. Most german Family rooms are 2+2 only!!! I shall write now..... thanks dundeedoll!
