I have always worked, this is what upsets me as now i need the help it just feels like a never ending battle with these people.

is there any advice you could offer? If my mother writes a letter of confirmation that the money is hers just saved in my account would this justify it?

    thanks again for any advice

Nope, that would not justify it. Doesn't your mother have her own banking arrangements?

It's pretty much established that to attempt to claim that capital in your name actually belongs to someone else requires a long standing audit trail of evidence going back to when the money was deposited.

As you had £4k and the £2.3k holiday pay savings, you had over £6k. When you applied, the forms ask about any savings in your name. You have failed to declare savings that are in your name.

Edit:- Income is (iirc) only treated as income for a period equivalent to the period it was paid for. i.e a month's wages are income for a month after payment. Then they become savings. Which is logical. The OP's income/savings issue/appeal/decision would not alter the future treatment of such income/savings after the claim was established.
