Hi,
I formatted my 500gb external hard drive using gui format to format it in FAT32. When I did it I was able to copy files to it and play them on my xbox 360 using the usb port.
However, after testing and it working, my laptop now no longer recognises the drive. I have gone into disk management and the bar above the drive is black saying that it is unallocated.
Please help

Why did you use guiformat (which to me is an unknown quantity by an unknown software developer)?
Why not format it using Disk Management, or use a well-known open source utility such as GPARTED?
I confess I don't know the Xbox 360 file system limitations, but FAT32 doesn't seem a good choice, given its 4GB file size limit which it is easy to exceed these days. If it can handle NTFS, I'd use that rather than FAT32.0 -
HI thanks for the reply. I jad to use fat32 as NTFS is not recognised ny the Xbox. Disk management will only format in NTFS in Vista. I think I have got it sorted now more by luck than judgement.I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.0
