DLA renewal

Did I read somewhere that DLA renewals were being made easier?

My paperwork arrived - more like an mini novel! Page after page after page! Mostly repeating the same questions.

I highlighted that my Oncologist is main medical care provider - not my GP.

After trying to complete a little bit of the paperwork each day, i gave up and went to my local Maggie centre - they were brilliant!

Seems they've had several people with the same issues about the paperwork. Lung issues don't seem to be covered by their questions.

I have Metatastic Breast Cancer (it's spread to my lungs).
Got a letter this morning telling me they got my paperwork - so here's waiting to see what happens.

No medical issues are covered by DLA at all, the form concentrates solely on care needs and mobility needs.

To answer your original question though there is a pilot in some areas of the country where renewals are done on a 4 page form, the rest of us get a whole new claim pack to start again with but you do get it about 6 months before your award is up.

    Hello

I'm glad you mentioned that charity. I had never heard of it before this evening when I saw a TV programme with Dominic Littlewood interviewing a guy who had Prostate Cancer.
That charity was his lifeline in every sense. I was so impressed with the way that it is run. Then here it is again!

From what I have seen of it, it seems to be a lifeline for many. You are very lucky to have it.

My mum died a couple of years back with what you have except hers was related to the Liver.
No one in the family knew anything about any emotional help or indeed any financial help. Now I realise just what she could have had that would have made her last few months that much easier.
Even to the point that she had to go on the bus for every appointment at the hospital for treatment because she couldn't afford a taxi.
