HSA Dental Plan

Options
Hey All,

I was just wondering about the HSA Dental Plans.

I saw these advertised on the tv and wondered if anybody knew if they were any good?

It says there are 3 levels of cover, £7, £12, and £17 a month with varying different levels of pay outs.

I can't afford to pay a private dentist and there is more chance of winning the lottery than getting a nhs dentist in edinburgh.

Does anyone have experience of this cover and if its any good?

Thanks in advance.

  • It can be good but do a search on health cash back plans on the web and find the benefits that work for you.

If you go for HSA so through quidco for £30 odd cashback
  • We have had HSA for at least 25 years. Both of us now retired and we carried on paying. It costs us just under £30 each per month - I can hear you grown at that but I have used mine for teeth, glasses and Osteopath, Acupuncture and Homeopath treatment and have received more back in cash than we have paid in. The beauty of it is that we can both claim for each other that means that we get nearly all of it back. On the plan we are in we get £220 back towards glasses and mine cost £400 due to the type of lense I need. When our children were small my daughter needed to see a consultant asap and the HSA gave us the means to do it. It all depends on what you need the HSA for if you are young you may not need it as often us us oldies. My daughter had a large lump sum sent to her when she was pregnant, but of course you have to have payed in for some time to claim that. The staff at HSA are really helpful and will send you a leaflet explaining cost and entitlements. The other good thing is you don't need a health check before you join up and it is much cheaper than some of the other Health plans. We have found it invaluable especially as we have grown older and more creaky! We also don't have to go to the doctors as we use alternative therapies that work for us.

Whilst I applaud the fact that you are supporting your health care, you state that you have nearly got all of your money back, but if you had saved £30 a month plus interest ,you would have got more than all of it back.

I agree on that kenshaz but I wouldn't have had the treatment I needed badly when and how I wanted it.

I have been a member of HSA about 15 years and I find them excellent. I pay around £17 a month. I think if you are a glasses wear and use the dentist regularly it is worth joining. They pay up quickly as well. Also you can claim for your OH as well if they need to use any of the services. I'm just about to send off dh and my dental claims.

Martin has written an article about these sort of schemes HERE

I joined HSA because of the £77 cashback offered by joining via www.quidco.com. (The rate has now dropped to £35)

You can also join HSA using Tesco Clubcard vouchers. More details:
