this could be more related to affordability. credit score on credit reports mean nothing as all companies have different ways of assessing applications. it may be worth putting an appeal in writing and give proof that you comfotably afford the repayments.

also, your mortgage is only 7mnths old. this could also be a factor

Get your credit report for free via the loopholes explained by Martin.

Don't add the money to the mortgage.

Personally I reckon you should think about not needing the money. It might be a blessing in disguise. Then again, there's still the mystery of why you were rejected. It might be nothing badly wrong. Lending criteria are based on what the lender wants.

Why not postpone the wedding for a year? You could get married for whatever a registry office costs and then have a big do next year. Or are you too far into the process now?

WE ARE TOO FAR IN NOW. i had done a few provisonal quptes befroe and checked crdit rating and it was fine so i saw no reason for not getting loan.
we have now found some1 to give us loan but slightly higher interest but still more than affordable for us.

love you lots like jelly tots :o
  • Just one question.

Do you really, really want to be paying for this wedding five years later!, calculate the total cost of this new loan, you might be shocked of how much its gonna cost you in the long run. Also I don't know if you have children, will taking out this loan prevent you doing this sooner rather than later, Just remember once the guests have gone home you and your new husband will be in deep pooh paying it all back!!

    Good luck

We took a loan out over 4 years to pay for our wedding a few years back. I regretted taking it out (not getting married) because those 4 years were difficult paying it back. However several years later I'm glad we got the wedding we wanted, you only do it once (hopefully) and the memories of our day are very special. Probably not very mse to be saying all this, but we are still happily married (nearly 20 years) with 3 kids and I love looking at our wedding photos!

Just Phoned And They Said They Wont Tell Me!

They wont tell you because they are barred by the credit reference agency from telling you, you have to apply for the information yourself. Has your partner checked out his reports?? The previous occupants debt has no relation to your own credit reports as reference agencies are no longer allowed to link people to your own reference where there is no financial tie.

Similarly, they wont tell you what the problem is as by telling you where you didnt meet the bank lending criteria, they are alluding to what they want in an applicant and may give rise to fraud in a subsequent application by yourself or anyone else who has access to that information. I work for a financial institution and I dont know what influences the credit scoring process. If I did, then I might hint to a customer what information needs to be given in order to meet sales targets etc etc!

The best advice in these cases are to check all three reports for both yourself and your partner, to make sure it is all correct. If you find errors, have them corrected because the reference agency will report errors to the banks etc you have recently applied to, telling them they might want to reassess the application in the light of new information.

As a previous poster has mentioned, it could be a blessing in disguise, if you really need the money for the dream wedding then it might be better to earn it in advance.

You can apply to be put on the electoral roll, there are usually the application forms on the local council website that can be printed and sent off. It might be a quicker way to get that organised.

BTW - I didnt say put the wedding off!
