Word and Tables problem

Hi, can anyone help please?

I am having trouble keeping the text inside the cells of a table.

It is a document that has been sent to me, theedges of the table had 'disappeared' off the sides of the document so I thought if I created a new one with a fresh table I could copy and paste the text in cell by cell.

The table is within the page now, but the text in each cell runs out of the right hand edge and can't be seen.

I haven't seen this before, any text I have put into a cell has always wrapped.

Can someone help please?

Try looking at table properties > click on cell tab > and then > options. I can click/unclick 'wrap text' or 'fit text' - mind you that's on Office 2007 but don't know what your are using.

    I'm on Office 2003.

I have tried every combination of options on the cell tab but still cannot bring all of the text into the cell. There is 'wrap text', 'fit text' and 'same as the whole table'. Also, the option of giving exact sizes of cells.

The words that disappear are random. If the last word of the row finishes within the cell the next word appears on the next row. If the last word is too long to fit into the cell it disappears, but the next word is put on the next row. I have tried to justify the text but that doesn't bring the lost ends of words into the cell.

    Thanks for trying.

Check th 'style' associated with the text. Make sure it's 'normal'. Also, check cell height isn't set to 'specify height'.

Also if you paste the text from one table to a new one, 'paste special' as unformatted text.

That's sorted out the text!! Thanks.

Now the right hand column has gone right off the page :o

Difficult without seeing it. If you click on the table / cells there should be 'handles' at the top of the page. Try dragging them.

OK, have grabbed the vertical lines between the cells and pulled it all in. Phew! Now I think that I can sort the rest out.

I can make it look pretty now and send it back to a friend who asked if I could help. Won't she think that I'm clever :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks so much for your help. Every one is so nice here.
