EGG Credit Card - ISSUES!!!!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to all this so apologise in advance if I mess this up etc. But I have a query and I am really stuck so I thought I'd throw it to the collective.

Story is this:

I opened an EGG credit card in 2006, in 2008 EGG claimed that they contacted me about being taken over by Citi and they closed my account. This meant that I could only PAY OFF the balance of the card and nothing else. I have now signed up to BARCLAY CARDS 17 month balance transfer credit card but they could not accept the balance transfer because the credit card I have from EGG had expired in 2008 and EGG are refusing to issue me with a new card as technically I cannot use it for anything. All I can do is keep paying the balance.

What are my options, does anyone know? Or can someone advise me on what I can do to get rid of EGG credit card and transfer the balance over to my 0% interest Barclay card... Am I doomed to forever be paying into my EGG credit account at their EXTORTIONATE rates of interest - I'm only chipping away in small amounts and it is going to take forever to clear. I am so angry and annoyed and could really do with some advice or a pointer as to where I can try to solve this dilemna.

Many thanks in advance for any useful advice you may be able to give!

J

When you receive monthly bills from Egg do you have a sixteen digit reference / account number on it?

If so, you can do a balance transfer. DON'T tell Barclaycard that the Egg account is closed / revoked - they don't need to do this and it is of no consequence.

    Good luck! :o

my mint card is repayment only and they will not issue me with a new card but as IZOOLS said, you shoulkd be able to pay it off by giving the the card number from your statement. I was able to do a part transfer from my mint to a virgin 0% even though i have no card.

as iztools says you only need the 16 digit number, login to barclaycard online and do the transfer
  • No you won't be able to do it online. I tried to do exactly the same thing but you need the expiry date of the card you are transferring from and my Egg card no longer existed either. All I did was ring Barclaycard (and explain I no longer had an Egg card) and they transferred the Egg balance over the phone on the 6.9% for life - just took a few days and no problems.

Hi guys, Thanks for your input. I'm afraid that Bobbydrake50 is correct on this one. The fact that my EGG credit card has not been renewed means that even though I still have the 16 digit account number I still need a valid expiry date.

Bobbydrake50 - I tried calling Barcalycard and they said they can ONLY TRANSFER the balance with a valid expiry date for the credit card - How did you get around this one? I have no current card and hence no current expiry date to give them.... ???

It's frustrating that I cannot pay off EGG and no-one seems open to hearing my story - they shut down as soon as they hear that EGG deactivated my card...

Any ideas now guys...?? All offers and input welcome - I'm desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
