Backing up files

Now I have seen on here the advice to keep 3 copies off all files required should my computer die some time. Now I have made on back up of files and pictures onto disc, what other method would you also recommend to back up onto? A seperate hard drive? Online storage?
It also seems that you should keep at least one copy away from the others should the house where computer and say one other back up are and they get destroyed by fire etc. So would getting online back up be the best option or are these sites still liable to collapse and lose everything from them anyway?
TIA

Personally, I upload all of my pictures onto photobucket, something like that, and my Files/movies/music goes onto a seperate hard drive. That's it (I have an external 1TB hard drive). I also back up files only to a USB stick.0

I agree with Kat. I have a Gmail account and get some free space on Googles Picasa service bundled with it. All my photos are uploaded to that. Everything gets backed up and its easy to share stuff with family and friends as a bonus.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" I have both a C and E drive and was told if C failed it should still be on E. But I back up files, photo's and music onto a USB stick anyway.0

not if both C: and E: are partitions of the same hard drive, if the hard drive fails you would loose both.
me personally for back up, I have 2 external hard drives both with up-to-date identical copies of all my files, I have a copy of all my main files (such as music, pictures, some videos and work) on my computer (so pretty much 3 copies of all my files), I have a copy of all my photos on a DVD, and I have an online backup of some files aswell.0 -

disk image to external hard disk, and if you are worried about fire/theft, either on the net, or store a copy in a different location
KxMx - your backup method is very risky, hard disk dies, or virus, you lose everything, usb flash drives are easily corrupted/lost/infected!!

I've considered an external hard drive but haven't decided/got the money yet.
Not interested in internet services, not safe enough in my opinion, putting all your stuff out there for hackers to get into (just like getting into PC's), I am in control of my USB or external drive (If I get one) if not my PC.0 -
dvd's cost pennies.!!
