Help~Problem with mousepad on laptop.

Having a wee problem wth my laptop.
Some coffee spilt on it yesterday.
Luckily was off & shut.
Turned on ok earlier.
But mousepad & keyboard not working.
Did a system restore.
Keyboard now working~phew~but mousepad bit not.
Have a mouse plugged in.
Could be worse I suppose.
Any ideas?
Its like keyboard has locked?
Can anyone suggest anything.

I mean it's a hardware issue I guess it dried a little bit to let you use the keyboard. I would suggest taking it to a computer/laptop shop and asking them to clean it (opening it up and cleaning underneath the keyboard/mousepad) and see if that helps?0

You could remove the keyboard and clean it thoroughly but the mouse pad is usually separate if it does not dry out then you may need a replacement keyboard.0

Mouse pads can't be cleaned, it would need replacing. There is a film circuit board the size of the trackpad that is glued to the underside and detects where your finger is by capacitance. Getting liquid in this screws it up. Getting the part to do it though isn't easy and is likely to be manufacturer only and I wouldn't be surprised if the cost ended up being the thick end of £100 after labour is factored in. If you got one second hand, it would come as a complete palmrest.
As for the keyboard, I thought you said it was working?0 -
