halifax clarity card help

Hi,

I applied for the halifax clarity card, but only got offered it at the highest rate (not sure why because I have no outstanding debts or anything bad - in fact I only have one credit card that I barely use).

my question is, is the halifax clarity still the best card if I just pay the balance in full every month, or should I apply for another one?

I am applying for this card to go to australia for a year by the way.

thanks very much for your help,

James

If you divide the APR by 12 you will get an approximate interest rate per month. You should then compare this rate with the % charge levied by other cards.
However, you don't have to wait until the end of the month to clear the debt. Halifax do not like you pre-loading the card (I really can't think why as you are making an interest free loan to them), but they can't object to you checking your balance every day and immediately clearing the balance. Every day is probably over the top -even for me - but if you do this twice a week then the interest will be negligible.

If you only intend to use this for purchases and not for cash withdrawals then the rate of interest won't matter. You should get the Mastercard conversion rate on that dates which is close to the Interbank rate without a loading.
