Dead gas meter - what rules apply?

Hi fwor,

When a meter fault is reported and stops recording usage, the account would normally be sent to a specialist department. They will then estimate usage for the period of time the meter has stopped based on previous account history and consumption.

In some cases, they will wait for a couple of weeks usage from the new meter to make sure the estimate is as accurate as possible.

If, when you receive the bill showing the usage from the time of the stopped meter, you don't agree, I would suggest contacting E.ON to discuss the figures they have used.
