My 83 year old Mother in law has recently been taken for £714 by these people; she is financially very naive, having left all that to her late husband. It's disgraceful - she thinks they claimed she had won the holiday because she had not been overdrawn for years, hence she thought they were calling from Natwest.
She doesn't even seem to have received any tickets - and the payment was six week ago.
We are going to her Bank (NatWest) to see if they will help and will report back here if they do, but as it was a debit card I bet they won't, so I'm grateful to others here with advice on recovery. Looks like it will be a long haul.
I can not write what I think about this company on a site visited by children.0 -
Here's VISA's official reply to my inquiry - the only thing I've changed is the respondee's name, the rest is a straight copy.Dear Stuart,
Thank you for contacting Visa Europe.
Please be informed that the phone call was a fraudulent call and is not related to Visa. Do not supply your account details in this manner.
For your information, Visa never contacts cardholders directly by phone or e-mail requesting personal information relating to your Visa card.
If you receive an e-mail or phone call claiming to come from your bank, or any other banks, requesting personal information, do not provide the details – it could be fraudulent. Instead, contact your bank to determine whether or not the e-mail or phone call were from them.
Please be advised that if you get any suspicious emails or phone calls requesting your account details it is important that you bring this to the attention of Visa, specifically, phishing@visa.com.
Kind regards,

My 86 year old Father has fallen for the same con. He gave them his credit card details. He has just received an envelope from America with all the holiday information. They have asked him to sign the credit card receipt and a terms and conditions form and return them.
I rang his credit card company and found they they have already taken £683. The fraud department are looking in to it and I have cancelled the card.
This was not a Halifax credit card but he does have a Halifax account. As pointed out in other posts, is this where they got his contact details from?
