Advice please from pros xxx

Hiya
I am quite new to comping and I am trying toi enter as much as I can but only atm enter comps the day before they close. How far in advance do you enter should I skip a couple of days and then I am entering a while before they close if you know what I mean?
I suppose what I am asking is do you think it matters on when you enter or every chance of winning either way?
do any of you enter last minute and win?

I don't think it matters when you enter a competition in terms of winning. Leaving it until the day or night before the closing date is usually fine, but sometimes comps close early (for whatever reason) and it's a pity to miss out of them (this has happened to me!).

i try to enter them as soon as they're posted, but, that's not always possible to do, have won by both methods entering early & entering a couple of days before the closing date
but, as ness says, sometimes they close them early (especially the mag comps) so best to try to get them done beforehand

I enter them as soon as I see them. I'm on here everyday. Its just the luck of the draw if you win or not I think. Good Luck.:D

I tend to enter all the ones closing the next day and then work through them, going day by day, then I check to make sure I haven't missed any when I come on the next day. I'm ill at the moment and have done nothing but comp I've managed to enter almost every comp on here (well, the ones i'm interested in)!

I also enter every day and work from the newly posted listings, and have won this way. I don't really see how it can make any difference...they can't legally destroy the early entries!

I tend to do them the day before/on the day they close (depends on time/children etc). Often, there are at least 75% of competitions that don't close until midnight on the actual ending date (then, conversely, there are those that close at one minute past midnight on the closing date). Sometimes, on the day, they are moved to game over, which is a shame as you have to plough through more to find the relevant ones - but i've done okay with wins, so I don't think you need to worry about when you enter them.

I did receive a wem a couple months ago, the day before the competition ended (It was one of the magazine ones, Take a Break type) which suprised me, when I mentioned it on this forum someone told me that this was not un-common for those competitions. I try to keep up to date with the date ending ones, but often by being a few days in advance, then being able to do the ones ont he day they are posted. If you get the time to have a few good sessions, you can sometimes find you are nicely up to date.

I originally entered comps when i saw them on the board regardless of the end date - at one point i had gone through all 200 odd pages! But I found that it was time consuming and it felt like forever for me to get a win because with the majority the end date was so far away.

For the past few months I've been searching for the end dates and doing them a few days before or even the day before - I had a WEM this morning about a chocolate goodie bag from a competition I entered last night or the night before, but I've also had WEMs from competitions that I entered a month ago. I dont think when you enter the competitions makes a difference, unless some close early for whatever reason as has been mentioned in an above post.

I always enter comps for the next day, and sometimes all of the days for the next week if I know I'm going to be especially busy. It's just your preference. I prefer it this way because there's not so much waiting around wondering if you've won anything! :rotfl:
