Replacing GU10 Halogen with GU10 LED

Hi

We have a GU10 Halogen light running off a manual dimmer switch at the moment.. Is it possible to run a standard GU10 LED Bulb off the dimmer switch if the dimmer is switched onto full power?

I have read you can't dim a LED bulb, but i think we would be ok with it running at full brightness

It may work, depending on the design of the dimmer, but you can't assume that it will. Some dimmers are designed to depend on the low resistance of a filament bulb in-circuit, and simply won't function with the relatively high resistance of an LED replacement.

Is it not feasible to replace the dimmer with a simple on/off switch?

Also check your consumption / meter if you do decide to keep the dimmer as I've heard rumor of low energy bulbs misbehaving and using more power if on dimmer at a perculiar voltage.... not sure if its true but worth checking.
