getting rid of unnecessary cards

Hi, its been a while since Ive been on here as Ive been in afghanistan...which has allowed me to clear all my debts and save 3k in my Nationwide ISA !

I have a few cards all with no debt. I have a Halifax One with 6K limit. Is it really worth keeping now as I have paid off everything I balance transferred on to it?

I WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL THIS CARD ON PRINCIPLE anyway as I was erroneously charged 12pounds for late payment even though I had set up a standing order to take 500pm straight into the account EVERY month. so the Halifax can stuff it unless someone can come up with a good reason to keep it.

Same goes for a Classic Halifax VISA with 5500 limit I had asked to be cancelled but it wasnt. Am I right in thinking such large credit limits are hindering my credit worthiness - Ive got an eye on a mortgage next year.

Got an Egg card 1500 limit, and Egg money 1500 limit, but usually in credit to at least 500.

The Egg cards seem to be popular here and useful for stoozing - so Ill keep them. Should I get rid of the others and apply for a better card to make money from. If so what do you all recommend?

Cheers !!!

The Egg Card is useless (IMO) for stoozing now that they have the 2.5% uncapped BT fee. Indeed, many stoozers (including myself) have closed this card down. In the Egg Money card, you have the best stoozing card there is.

In your position, I'd close down both Halifax cards - they're not known for giving any post intro deals suitable for the stoozer.

The only issue for you may be the Egg Money £1,500 credit limit, meaning you can only spend around £750/month. Is that enough? If not, you may need to increase it by asking Egg to close down the Visa card and transfer it's limit across to Egg Money.

The best no-fee/capped fee cards at the moment can be found at https://www.stoozing.com/0fees.htm
