The police might not really show any interest - they'd probably fob you off with "it's a civil matter" though
Its probably classed as embezzlement or 'obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception' - both serious theft offences - they can't fob you off, yes as with many criminal cases there is a civil dimension - and chances are high that they are doing it to other clientsvBulletin getting better!0 -

Just spoken to Lawyer of the family
Apparently this is a civil matter and as such you could seek recovery from the small claims court. Will cost you £80, but you can claim that back along with other expenses. If you have a written agreement and the tennant is prepared to give a statement, your case is pretty sound.0 -
