Sterling post - thanks a lot.
having a bit of bother with my rental agency (none of this helps, but thought I'd share it).
We were being paid £700 minus agency fees (15% - far too high).
Talked to tennant after they moved out and they said they wre paying £800. This for over 18 months of tennancy!!
I was incandescent. Am now trying to decide how to best handle this...
Very annoying.

Send them a demand for the rent they've stolen from you (presumably less the 15% to be fair :S) and then take them to small claims court if they fail to pay up. They've defrauded you. You could report them to the police too, just for fun.Pottymouth wrote:Sterling post - thanks a lot.

MarkyMarkD is quite right and the law of agency is quite clear on this area. An agent cannot make any secret commission and must disclose any profits. As such they are in breach of the contract of agency and if you did pursue it to court you'd stand a good chance of recovering the monies owed.
The police might not really show any interest - they'd probably fob you off with "it's a civil matter" though0 -
