Duly noted! Thanks very much for your advice. The ones we're going with have already been vetted and they do seem to know their stuff, but regardless of that, I think I'd prefer to have a back up just in case.0 -

do you not have to have a registered UK address to let out?
Can't give you any other advice (it's rather scary planning to move abroad, isn't it!!) but you definitely don't need to have a registered UK address to let as far as I have made out. However, it's helpful to use a friend or family's address for correspondence in the meantime with their permission, even if you don't live there (very important NOT to use your home address and simply forward the mail - avoid doing that at all costs!). Makes it easier.
If you do rent out in the end, make sure you fill in the necessary tax form to register as an overseas landlord, and ensure your letting agency have a copy, otherwise they have to take the necessary income tax from you before you receive your rental. This way, you sort the tax out yourself via self-assessment.0
