Bosch WM Owners: are Bosch pumps noisy?

Just got our BOSCH:
Bosch Exxcel WAE28464

http://www.johnlewis.com/Electrical/Washers+and+Dryers/Washers+and+Dryers/+Washing+Machines/524/230307187/Product.aspx

Great machine. But the pump noise is loud. It is louder than the spin to be honest (though the spin is pretty quiet for 1400rpm). I am referring to the pump sound just prior to, during and after the final spin.

So are Bosch pumps noisy? It is way noisier than our aging Zanussi was

    Hi
I have a bosch logixx and yes the pump is quite noisy.
Mines in a seperate utility room so it doesnt bother me. I think the machine is good though - just one of those annoying little things with Bosch perhaps?
I also have a Bosch dishwasher and that makes all sorts of loud bangs, which seem to come when its doing its last pump-out of the cycle. That does annoy me as its in the kitchen - if I put it on last thing before bed it can wake me up!
I'm replacing it with a SMEG so I hope that is quieter!!

Other than the pump noise it does seem to be good, just didn't want to go to the shop and make a fuss if it is normal behaviour!

    Any other input from anyone?

I also have a Bosch dishwasher which does the same thing. It's caused, I believe, by water hammer - when the dishwasher decides it doesn't need any more water and so the water being forced along the pipes suddenly comes to a stop, hence the noise. Fortunately, my Bosch works by measuring the water going in before it starts working, as opposed to some machines which just assume there is enough water after a set time before beginning the cycle. All of which means I could turn the connection tap right down and thus reduce the pressure, lessening the noise. You can still hear it, but it doesn't wake me up any more.

Got a Bosch washing machine too - was a massive improvemnet over my old machine so don't notice the noise. When I bought it, though, the woman in the shop told me Miele are the best machines by miles. Will get one of them next time, especially as you can get a 10-year guarantee on some models.
  • I've the model down from yours (same fascia, but 1200 spin) and I've not noticed any real pump noise?? Definitely not louder than the spin??? Ours is ownly a month old, but really very good and quiet (much quieter than the fridge we bought at the same time!)

I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
  • Is that what it is ??! Have had my Bosch WM for about 3 weeks now and it's lovely but I was surprised at the loud noise at some points in the cycle. Got the cheapest model Bosch make (Classixx) but can't remember the model number for now. Was told by the WM repair man that they are very good. Previous two were AEG which I had always thought were a good make but they were useless. Having said that my AEG tumble drier and DW have both been excellent (says she touching wood fast!)

    Thanks for all the replies.

The basic difference with the Bosch and the Siemens is the use of cast iron rather than cheaper concrete in the more expensive Siemens (with the exact same features, you pay a real premium) You also can get a longer warranty sometimes. I was told siemens are made in Germany and the Bosch in Poland, but I dont believe they have two factories for such similar builds.

Whoever said Miele? Yes a ten year warranty, but you could have several machines for the price of a Miele (2.5 Bosches!) which may last a lot longer. Anyway, no kids or dirty jobs so we are light users. Maybe next time
