I stopped in the Travel Lodge in the docklands - East London. Was pretty cheap and there's a tube station right next to it that takes you to the city pretty quickly.
(FYI - Tube: Station is called East India, You get on there and go to Bank, From Bank you can then go on from there to covent garden etc, tickets arent expensive either) There is a gentleman who works in the Travel lodge bar with an i phone - He's a lovely chap, ask him nicely and he will use his App and write down the stops (well he did for us!) we needed to get to Her Majesty's Theatre for a production

And they have car parking (chargeable) if you need it

I've used the Travelodge Southwark a couple of times. You can also park your car outside for free at the weekend.0

What dates? What's your budget?
The thing to remember about London is it is BIG. However, transport is fast and you can get from one side of the city to the other in 20 minutes on the tube.0 -
