  • H,
The BEST way to get to FL is obviously by taxi but it will cost around $80 plus tip! I have never understood why it costs this amount as its only 23 miles and fuel is cheap in the US (they are moaning that it is now $2.45 a gallon). You could take a ride in a pre booked shuttle van but that is also around $15 per person but would drop you at your hotel. The very cheapest way is on the Tri Rail. Get your ticket just outside the airport, (arrivals) take the free shuttle bus down to the tri rail station and get off nearest to your hotel.(You would have to work out which station is nearest to the hotel. Tickets currently $3.80. Whilst this is the cheapest way of getting there, it is obviously not the easiest. Sally

Rent a car?? You lose out on a lot of things if you don't.

$2.45? A little more than that! I had to pay $3.10 at the weekend!

    PS - I'd rent a car

If you don't need a car, TRI rail can be relatively easy with plenty of stops in FLL. During weekdays they operate every 40 minutes or so. If you are picking up a cruise rather than staying in a hotel then it may be best to get the train to FLL airport as most cruise lines provide transfers direct to the ship from the airport

Also the public transport terminal is right outside concourse E where the international flights land. Honest, you walk out the exit after clearing customs and you are almost standing where all the busses leave from
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Remember a US gallon is less than a UK gallon. It is still cheaper though ;)

Why not get a hire car?

I'm aware of that. 3.7854L / US gallon.
Gas has dropped to below $3 / gallon now. Still taking GBP1 = $1.50 I'm paying around 53p/L
  • Thanks, I'll take the Tri-Rail from Miami to Sheridan street.

Omg that just brings back memories...I used to live off Sheridan Street!

Not being funny but you seriously want to rent a car if you're planning on spending some time there. Public transport might be cheap but it really isn't for the faint harted!

I also wanted to add that MIA is the absolute worst airport I have ever travelled out of. They are slow, rude, unorganized & think everyone has a gram of cocaine on them & will swab you down from head to toe...so if this happens to you, don't take it personally..
